“Blessings for HKSAR 25th Birthday” WhatsApp Sticker Design Competition
HKSAR is turning 25, what picture would you create as a gift for her? A big cake full of candles? A beautiful landscape picture?
Target participants: Full-time primary school students in Hong Kong can enter as an individual and submit one entry only.
Objectives: The competition aims to inspire creativity in children and wish Hong Kong a bright future. Winning entries will be made available online for download, spreading the blessings far and beyond.
Format and Requirements:
- All entries must be created under the theme “Blessings for HKSAR 25th Birthday” and submitted with a title of not more than 20 words and a description of the creative concept within 100 words in either Chinese or English.
- Participants are required to submit only ONE set of five WhatsApp stickers. Entries submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Each sticker should include image with Chinese and/or English text, which can be used on WhatsApp for communication purposes. The stickers must not be repeated and self-portraits or selfies are NOT accepted.
- Entries can be created using any traditional or digital drawing tools and painting methods, for example, crayon, watercolour, colour pencil, desktop software and mobile applications.
- For hand-painted entries, the size of each sticker must not be larger than 100x100mm and should not be folded during submission. Participants can also scan their hand-painted stickers into individual electronic image files for submission, with each file not exceeding 2MB in size, at a resolution of 300 dpi or above and in PNG format. All submissions will not be returned regardless of competition outcomes.
- For entries created using digital tools, each sticker must not exceed 800x800 pixels in resolution. The background must be transparent and clipart is NOT allowed. Each sticker should be submitted in PNG format and not exceeding 2MB in size. Winners will be required to provide original files.
- Entries can be submitted by any of the following ways:
- complete the enrolment form (can be downloaded from www.hksar25contests.com) and post it together with the entry to 15th Floor, Block A, Ming Pao Industrial Centre, 18 Ka Yip Street, Chai Wan, Hong Kong. Please write on the envelope: “Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR – ‘Blessings for HKSAR 25th Birthday’ WhatsApp Sticker Design Competition' (the postmark date should not be later than the enrolment deadline); or
- email the enrolment form together with the electronic file of the entry to marketing@mingpao.com. Please write on the email subject: “Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR — 'Blessings for HKSAR 25th Birthday’ WhatsApp Sticker Design Competition'; or
- complete the enrolment form online on the contest website (www.hksar25contests.com) and provide the Google Drive link of the entry file for download.
“New Era with a Bright Future” 4-frame Photo Competition
Hong Kong has always been where East meets West, old and new intertwine. After returning to the Motherland, Hong Kong has continued to innovate and develop on all fronts including environment and community planning, recreational and cultural furtherance. Hong Kong is heading for an even brighter future as the city integrates into the Motherland’s national development roadmap.
Target participants:Full-time secondary school students in Hong Kong (Secondary School Category) or the public (Open Category) can enrol as an individual to either one of the categories and submit one entry only.
Objectives: Hong Kong has been growing and evolving since returning to the Motherland. On the infrastructure front, there are the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the High Speed Rail (Hong Kong Section); in environment and community planning, the city has developed extensive harbour front promenades and marine or wetland parks; cultural and sports facilities have been expanded by Xiqu Centre, the West Kowloon Cultural District as well as the ongoing project of Kai Tak Sports Park construction. The competition aims to encourage all to showcase the diverse facets of Hong Kong—its cityscapes and people, through visuals to express the beauty of Hong Kong and aspirations for its future.
Format and Requirements (Secondary School Category):
- All entries must be submitted under the theme “New Era with a Bright Future” with a title of not more than 20 words and a description of the creative concept within 100 words in either Chinese or English.
- Each entry should be a collage of four photos. Participants may crop the collage into rectangles or irregular shapes and use different border width and colours.
- Participants in the secondary school category may add lines or mix in painted elements to the photos, and freely make use of other materials to create the graphics. Such additions must not make up more than 30% of the photos.
- All photos must be taken in Hong Kong.
- Participants must obtain prior legal authorisations from persons in photos for uploading to the contest webpage, related websites, social media platforms, and any other relevant occasions for display, promotion and non-profit-making purposes.
- All photos MUST be the original work of the participant, and have not been published, sold or submitted to other competitions. Entries must not contain any advertising elements or infringe upon any rights of any third party, including but not limited to, intellectual property, confidentiality and privacy. Any violation will result in disqualification.
- Participants may use a digital camera or smartphone to take photos for the competition and each photo with 12 million pixels or more is recommended. The format of each entry (i.e. a collage of four photos) must be a JPEG, JPG or PNG file not exceeding 20MB in size.
- Participants may slightly edit the photos, such as removing spots or adjusting the brightness, saturation or contrast, but modification of the compositions of the photos is NOT allowed
- Entries can be submitted by any of the following ways:
- participants may upload the 4-frame photo to Google Drive and email the link together with the completed enrolment form (downloadable from www.hksar25contests.com) to marketing@mingpao.com. Please write on the email subject: “Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR—‘New Era with a Bright Future’ 4-frame Photo Competition (Secondary School Category)”; or
- complete the enrolment form online on the contest website (www.hksar25contests.com) and provide the Google Drive link of the 4-frame photo file for download.
Format and Requirements (Open Category):
- All entries must use “New Era with a Bright Future” as the theme. Entries should include a title of not more than 20 words and a description of the creative concept within 100 words in either Chinese or English.
- Each entry should be a collage of four photos. The collage frame must be square in shape and the inner and outer borders must be in solid colours.
- Participants in the open category must NOT add lines, watermarks or patterns to the photos.
- All photos must be taken in Hong Kong.
- Participants must obtain prior legal authorisations of persons in photos for uploading to the contest webpage, related websites, social media platforms, and any other relevant occasions for display, promotion and non-profit-making purposes. All photos must be the original work of the participant, and have not been published, sold or submitted to other competitions.
